Can CRK coat sebenzas with BC1 or DLC?

Hi Manji, you may want to email CRK directly if no one can answer this question here on BFC. I have found them to be very quick with their responses to customer inquiries.

CRK will not coat their one-piece knives with anything but the Kalgard. I don't know if they would coat a Sebenza in the Kalgard but I doubt it because of the close tolerances of the knives themselves. Any coating that you have done by an outside company, whether on a one-piece knife or a Sebenza, will most likely void the warranty on the knife.

Just out of curiosity..what knife do you want to recoat?

Yeah I agree with Ken, I really doubt that they would coat the Sebenza. Without a doubt that would void the warranty and it might mess up the action of the knife.

FWIW, Walt Welch sent a sebenza in to get one of those black coatings. He seemed to think, as I recall, that it worked fine.

I don't know how think these coatings are.

FWIW there was a person who about a year ago sent his Sebenza into Bodycoat, and had the whole knife done, and when he got it back was very pleased with the results. He show a pic of it, and of course it was a dark gray, and he said the action is very smooth, and did not cost much to have it done. This was before they came out with the improved DLD coating.
Sorry I cannot remember who it was(60 & the mind is not what it use to be), and have not seen any posts about it in a long time so don't know how well it has held up.

I remember the other ones on the anodization of different colors also but since Manji was asking about the Bodycoat, and DLC coatings on the blade, and handle it is the one Bronco had done is the one I had reference to.

I wasn't sure if he did the colors or not. Maybe all in one trip then I am happy with my Lrg. Mayonized Sebbie just the way it is, but figured I would add some more color to the small if I win

thanks for the info, i think the BC coating sebenza is pretty nice, the picture is not really detailed though. The sebenzas with the anodized handles look great too
