Unfortunately im not sure if there is a great deal EKI can do if its not in the US.
Coppy right laws just get laughed at here in Aisa so they pretty much know nothing is going to happen.

I hear ya, Haze. Hopefully, if all affected manufactures combined their efforts and resources, they could knock this company off the block!:thumbup:

I can see copying a design, but putting someone else's logo on it is down right deception. All we can do is spread the word that this stuff is crap!

My experience with the Orient outside Japan, has been that they just don't hold themselves to the same standards as we do. I don't want to sound "racial" here, but I work with several Chinese natives (who have PhD's they got over here!), and they will always do it the "quick and dirty" way, rather than being carefull and methodical. Again, I think this is something "cultural", not racial.
 
Iv seen a few 7 clones in shady shops but somthing like an HD is a bit past them I think.
 
If they are willing to sell industrial chemicals to their own people in BABY FORMULA I kind of doubt a logo infringment will even register.

Yup, I believe the Melamine thing was done to cover up the fact that they were "watering" things down.
Melamine regesters as a protine so will keep the level sutibly high so that they wouldnt see the obvious drop with the "buffer" added during quality testing.

China can be a real nasty place :thumbdn:
 
i dont know that EKI can do anything about any of this, it being out of the USA and such.

i'm sure ernie thinks it sucks FWIW.

From the pics that one looks ok to me.
Im not seeing anything that is ringing alarm bells right away.

That guy sells quite a few knives and has 100% feed back.
Id suppose if he was selling fakes it would be a picked up on by at least a few people.

I'd say you do have a real one :thumbup:
 
really need better pics but from what i can see i agree with haze. seems to be ok.........
 
Thanks for the opinions, guys. I recieved it today - if it is a knock off, it's a very well made one. It waves very smoothly and locks up very tight. The blade is centered and the fit and finish is excellent. I notice the the edge bevel on the left side of the blade is very much more pronounced than the right side, which doessn't really seem to have a bevel at all, but with further research I take it that that's just the way it's made. With this edge I can shave the hair on my right forearm but not on the left side - have to do some work I guess. Overall, I'm happy to finally join the Emerson club. I think I have a new EDC:D

Then it's a knockoff.:D:p

I'm just fooling around, but in all seriousness, of almost every Emerson I've owned (8 production models total), only a small number (3) had perfectly centered blades, not that I found it to be a huge issue. I can honestly say I don't know what a Commander or Mini-Commander with a centered blade looks like though.;)
