Have a portion of a Ti lockside that previous owner heated and became multi-colored. Believe heated to loosen loktite. Can this be reversed that you know of? I was going to try Whink rust remover, but wanted some expert opinions first.

Thank you.

What's the finish? Sand blasted or stonewashed easy to redo.

Rust remover probably won't work.

It is an oxide layer, can be removed easy but will not be nice / will be no consistent with the rest of the handle / Only right way is to stumbled/stonewashed again .

Thank you. I have a tumbler and ceramic media, but have never done a knife part before. Been used for other stuff.

About how long would you estimate this should take?

you can try Autosol Bluing remover or a product called Wizards Blue remover. These were developed for use on Stainless and Titanium Motorcycle exhaust pipes. The Bluing is caused by hi heat. However these are polish and may make your scale shinny, we love shinny when comes to motorcycle pipes :P

I was able to remove color from heat anodized screws, but never tried on titanium scales as I generally don't like color finishes that wears off.

30% water and 70% Whink.

Multiple times for a few seconds each time until it started to bubble. Dipped in Windex (ammonia) to stop process, then in water to clean between each time. Must have taken a dozen dips to achieve removal.

edit - I contacted Wizards and was told the blue remover was no longer made, except remaining stock on shelves somewhere.

edit 2 - I did stonewash it after the 'cleaning'.
