I was just wondering about the question in the title, any info would be appreciated :)

Thanks. Is there a big difference compared to 1095 when heat treating it?

1485f, 10 min soak, quench in fast oil. You can get better activity, and a bit more hardness in brine, but you risk cracks.

Not a great pic of the activity, but this is Hitachi blue#2.

As Willie said, it will hamon.

Grind fairly thin.
Don't overheat.
Use the fastest oil you can get.
Clay the spine about half way down.
