Can I add a clip to a knife?

Hi, I have an SOG Winder II that I received as a present. Unfortunately, it's too cumbersome to carry in my pocket. Is there any way to add an aftermarket clip to keep it accessible? If so, where and approximately how much?

Thanks,

Bob

you can get clips from Koval, of Halpern Titanium. It'll probably run you $10 for the clip, some small screws and shipping.

Hi amacks,

Thanks for the rapid response. I just have a follow up question. Is actually adding a pocket clip to an SOG Winder II adviseable? I'm agonizing over this issue because I understand that this process will be irreversible. Currently, the knife sits in a drawer. Is it better to alter the knife or keep it and just buy something else that has a clip already attached?

Regards,

Bob

Personally, I've added clips or moved clips around on a good number of knives, and I wouldn't touch that one. You can't disassemble it, so you're going to have to be drilling through the bolster into a "closed system." That means right away you have to use the rear bolster, because a hardened steel blade is below the front one. Then you'll have the flash at the edge of the hole sticking through into the knife and darn hard to get at with a file, plus tapping the holes will be a nightmare. I managed to put another clip spot on a Spydie Police once, which is a similar problem, but it wasn't fun.

These are good, traditional pocket knives; if you'd like a clip, I'd suggest trading it for something a bit more modern.

Has anyone ever tried some type of super strength adhesive to attach a clip? I'm talking about things like Miracle Weld and JB Weld? These are two products I've heard of but know nothing about.

I have an RJ Martin Kozuka w/carbonfiber sheath the belt clip is glued/epoxied to the carbonfiber. It's held up fine , I carry it IWB,SOB and in my boot . I think I'll tinker with some epoxies and let you know what holds up and what doesn't.

I'm sorry I haven't been monitoring this thread, and my question comes a bit late-- but I was just wondering about the Applegate Combat Folder-- I love the knife, hate the fact that it doesn't have a clip...

(The Covert, I own--I like the size of the Combat Folder, though).

How hard is to add a clip, and how exactly?

Thank you very much.
