Can I baton a plate?

Being tongue in cheek. I think its funny.

Half the people here are afraid to cut food on a plate for fear of ruining the knife edge.

The other half are batoning knives through knotty hardwood for fun.

I’m in the middle I use my knives hard, and keep them sharp with a toothy edge and have always been content.

Even knotty hardwood is not a higher hardness than a good knife steel. Plates are generally ceramic which is much harder. Makes sense to me.
