Ok,
Until now I have been a little aprehensive about stating that I have orderd a "Dark-Op's" Stratofighter Stilletto. Being a new guy to the forum I didnt want to get label'd a mall ninja to quickly. I, like many others I have wanted an Extrema Ratio folder but Just could'nt fork over that much dough especially since I have never handled one. I did my research and do agree that the advertising was way over the top and totally corny. I also dont believe that drinking a certain kinda beer will get me laid by "Supermodels" two at a time either. I read brownies reviews and all the others I could find and decided that what the hell, I filed my taxes and decided that $200.00 was ok to spend on a new "toy".
Well it just arrived about 45 minutes ago and it's a monster. What a huge folder, kind of a pocket sword so to speak. Fit and finish look great, blade is thick (like a folding prybar) lock up is full and solid and the shotgun style safety lock works fine. It has a good balanced feel to it and feels as though it would stay put in my hand no matter how "bloody" it got. Can't see what all the bad "blood" was about Dark-Op's knives themselves. It is a little Sci-Fi looking and the blade to handle ratio is a little off , but like I said the balance feels good to me. So far as knives go I feel I got my $200.00's worth. I will carry it EDC and report my finding in the near future.
So can I be a mall ninja now PLEASE-PLEASE ? I promise not to deanimate anyone in the food court.

If the lock turn out to be good, you like the knife and make fair use of it... what's not to like. It's your money, so don't let anyone try to use it for you. I would never buy a Sebenza (crowd: whaaat?????) no matter what people say.

Sorry bud.

I just spoke with the big boss of all Mall Ninjas and you cannot be official until you have the tritium inserts for the handles , paracord lanyard w/ Ti skull bead.
( although said lanyard may interfere with the skull crusher )

:p

Guys,

Say what you want about the marketing(I know it's over the top), but I had the pleasure of meeting Frank and his family in 2005 at the SHOT show, and hanging out with them one evening. Frank and his family were fun, generous, warm-hearted people. Just really down-to-earth. I can't see how anybody could not like them after spending time with them.

I held a Dark-Ops knife or two, too. Whether you like the style or not, they were solidly made.

Just for the record.

Is there any chance we can get some pictures and a detailed review in the future?

oh yes, PLEASE? :D

How much did you pay for it? Oh yeah, I'm for pics and review too mate :) Not many info regarding this knife so let yours be the first and only.

i had to look:

A full size fighting folder built to the durability requirements of full-on, Spec-Ops combat! If you need a utility folder, this is not the knife for you. The StratoFighter Stiletto feature Dark Op's proprietary RaptorLok™, a self cleansing double talon locking system that uses the entire length of the knife to support the opened blade. Unlike modern unproven and complicated locking systems, this basic principles of this design have been tested for over fifty years. Dark Ops' secondary CrisisCross™ cross-bolt locking system serves the function of preventing the knife from being closed while open. The pommel end of the knife offers an integrated emergency window breaker and paracord safety tethering hole. The scales are made of T6160 aircraft grade hardened aluminum, not porous materials that cannot be decontaminated from bodily fluids or chemical munitions. Carved into the sides of the scales are lateral control grooves that provide indexing points in darkness as well as additional control without increasing the width of the handle. Deep finger grooves orient the knife in the hand and add a third more grip area. Quartz impregnated inserts provide extreme circumstances grip enhancement and are replaceable should decontamination be required. The Pocket clip is reversible for true ambidextrous tip up carry. The finish isCarbon Black Titanium CarboNitride (TiCN) vacuum deposited finish and is designed to shed the micro-fine airborne sand of Middle-eastern deserts. The Blade steel is made from Dark Ops proprietary CTV2 steel, an exotic and expensive Hybrid of Chromium, Cobalt, Tungsten, Vanadium, Molybdenum, in an alloy of surgical grade stainless steel. Thorough hardened to 58 HRC Rockwell with a secondary cryogenic cutting edge hardening, it is a steel that is basically indestructible! A full quarter inch thick, it is one of the heaviest production blades in existence today. Production versions feature the StratoFighter Laser Engraving and CTV2 Steel demarcation. 100% made in America! Stiletto blade style available with half serrated cutting edges.

I'm sure past all the screwed up advertising and taking other companies' designs, dark ops probably has at least one or two really well built knives. I still probably won't buy them though

If a little piece of paracord can interfere with your skullcrusher, it wasn't much of a skullcrusher to begin with. ;)

Hey man,
I'll have you know I use Lanyards on several of my knives, but not the fashion knotted kind but the kind that keep you from loseing it when working 8stories in the air and I do have a skull on my freshly reworked Commander.
Sorry though no tritium inserts, never needed night sites on a knife.

Actually Frank's rep. when he was with ER was one of my decideing factors in trying one of his knives. It is a very solid knife. I took my wife to her concealed weapons class tonight and passed it around to a couple of the instructors who I served with and they were pretty impressed with it as well.

Will be glad to do a review after I have carried her for awhile as far as pic's go
my posting rules say I may not post attachments. Does this go for pic's as well? There are other members who want to see my reworked Commander too.

I believe that for a $20 fee Spark will allow you to put that title on your header and it will appear under your name on all your posts.:D
