I have a new Large Classic unique graphic Sebenz with the normal stone washed blade. I had a hard time even finding a nice one since I am left handed. I really wanted one with a Damascus blade but it was impossible to find (I had searched for 3 months with no luck).

I am wondering if I can order a Damascus left hand blade directly from Chris
(and before anyone states the obvious, I know the only difference between a right and left hand blade is the side the tumb stud is on).

Has anyone ever bought a blade directly and if so was there a wait for it?

I have never ordered a blade from them. Have you E-mailed or called CRK?

I just thought of doing this last night so I will have to wait until Monday before I call. I just thought I would check to see if anyone has done this in the past before I make the call.

A couple of months ago I called CRK and a very nice lady there said I could send in my Sebenza and have a damascus blade fitted to it.

Yes you can. They are backordered though, and the waiting time is between 9-12 months. I`m in the process of ordering one myself. ;) :)

I have about 3 months left till my large classic raindrop blade is in. The wait was 8
months when I ordered it.

I can't wait.....

No it is not.Take a close look at the lock area.
And there is also the dimple in the tang were it meets the detend ball.

In short, a right hand blade in a left hand frame will never lock, neither will it stay closed.

Thank you for correcting me. I am too new to Sebenza's to have known the the difference and I've now proven that I still have a lot to learn. I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks.

I got a damascus blade for my left hand 2000 limited edition. I had to send the knife in to have the blade fitted for the knife and yes a right hand blade won't work in a left hand frame configuration.:p

I have communicated with Heather about this subject and the way I see it is if you are buying a new knife with a damascus blade it takes roughly 6 - 8 months. If you are looking for a replacement blade, it is more like the latter of 8 - 9 months. My LE arrived with damascus pretty much 6 months after order.

Got to love that Damascus; looks great and cuts very well too!

I too have a Damascus blade on order with CRK. Ordered in summer, I hope to have notification soon to send my knife in for the swap.

I called today and was told 6 to 9 months wait, guess I'll either find one already out there (which may take as much time) or just forget it completely. You could have a house built in less time!

Welcome to the world!:D Six to nine months isn't that long. And after that waiting period you will enjoy it even more when you finally have it!

Wow ! Me, I got lucky on getting a damacus folder on the forum! Thanks to a couple of good guys here. Bought a small classic sebenza ebony inlaid handles only, no blade and a few days later, was able to buy a damascus blade( a beautiful Thomas stainless) from another guy who had two and was kind enough to give me good a deal on the extra he had. Luckily( my risk), it fit just right. I am saying this as I also had talked to Heather about fitting a damascus blade on another small sebbie and wait was 8-10 months or indefinitely!! Hope you guys that gave me this read this, my gratitude!!:)
