Can I chage the spindle on the mini-mill?

Howdy all!

I found a dealer in a city near me (remember I'm in Canada!) that sells the mini-mill that everyone else does! However, it has the #3 spindle taper, whereas I see that the Harborfreight and Homier versions have an R8. Suppose I got the mini-mill, is the spindle something I can change with parts from some supply place?

Why bother? If it's the same one everyone else sells (probably a Rong Fu) it can't be much cheaper, so why not just buy an R8 model?

Homier has the cheapest of the mini-mills right now, coming in at $399. Most machinists prefer the R-8 quill because of the wide variety of tooling available for it. Littlemachineshop.com has lots of tooling for these little mills, and to specifically answer your question: Yes, they have replacement drawbars, and quills. ;)

Thanks everyone!

I asked the above because I am in Canada, and I can find a version of the mini-mill (same as everyone else has) somewhat locally, and maybe for a hell of a great price. Trouble is, it has the MT3 taper. I'd prefer the R8 taper because of the availablility of tooling. I thought I might have to drive to the States to a Homier dealer, but I might get away with staying put!
