I want deperately to send my pen pal soldier in Iraq an awesome, barely used SOG Trident, but I suspect military rules will preclude me from doing this. Anyone know the regulations right offhand?

When all this crap initially went down, me and a bunch of others sent Himalayan Imports khuks to guys over there. It basically boils down to the commanding officer of the unit. Some will allow stuff others won't. I don't know what the "official word" is about personal weapons or tools.

I am in Iraq currently and I know you can send a knife here through the mail. I had 3 sent here already (Tom Brown Tracker and Scout, and MercWorx Equatorian) and had no problem. I agree with Bob, it depends on who the soldier's CO is. A lot of soldiers here though have their own blade, even the girls here. For some reason I think that is kinda hot. Maybe I have been here to long and my brain has been cooked during the summer months...hahahahaha. I would just ask before you send it.

Thanks, Lee! I kind of wanted it to be a surprise, but I guess I need to ask first. Thanks for your service, and God-speed!

We ship knives to military folks in Iraq every day. It has to go by military mail. I think a knife as nice as a SOG Trident would be much appreciated.

You can mail knives both ways, to and from Iraq. Just make sure you insure your package as lost or damaged packages are faily common here. BTW, I think sending your friend a knife is a great gesture of friendship. Also, knife restrictions are not very common in most units and as long as the we dont get stupid we can carry pretty much anything.
