My dearly loved and used often deer and elk blade (Esee 3hm) is almost perfect. It would be awesome if I could change the handle color to blaze orange or super bright green. Not for aesthetic reasons, but because knives inevitably get put down in the brush during meat processing.

I’ve never tried rit or any other dye. Is it possible to end up with a finished product that is ridiculously and obnoxiously bright in color?

Well crap, now I really want to try this. Would it be too damaging to hit it with bleach first? I've only used purple RIT on bone before. My only two Esee Micarta's are now really dark from sanding and buffing the flats.

I just remembered seeing an orange option when I purchased the little Candiru scales. I'll try to find the pic.

Scales are affixed with screws. Can easily buy and/or make scales of your choice. Much easier than trying to dye micarta a brighter color. You could maybe try to brighten what you have somehow, then find some blaze orange dye and try it, but I don't think the juice will be worth the squeeze. Please post results if you try it.
