Can I fix this blade?I was just giving this Camtllus Carnivore X it was used on the family ranch by the Ranch Hand , he abused it 😔, can I straighten this edge out? I think he tried using a bench grinder to sharpen it. I have a Ken Onion sharpener but I don't think it can straighten this edge.

That looks like someone ran a dremel wheel down the edge. I sharpen my lawnmower blades with a dremel and the edge looks just like that. Is the edge itself rippled or is the edge bevel just uneven?

It will take time and multiple passes, and you will lose some of the profile in the straightening. It will look a bit different by the end, but as long as you keep it cool enough to touch by dunking it during the regrind process, it's fixable. Getting it too hot will destroy the heat treat, so spray it down as you go or cool it in water every few passes on the grinder. Trying to fix the profile without power tools will take a long time.

All the photos of new ones for sale have a even edge. My ken onion could fix it but the belts won't last long taking that much metal off

That's what I figured theres a bench grinder in the barn I could try using? I think it's what he destroyed it with not understanding how to sharpen a blade I also have a 1980s buck he did the same thing to 😞 I'll give the grinder a shot. The ken onion will use a lot of belts if I use it.

That edge can be salvaged, but like stated above, a lot of metal is gonna have to be removed. Probably to the point that the proportions of the knife are off. Don’t take powered equipment to your knives. Use stones and do it correctly.

I'm afraid the hardenes is already ruined because of what he did to it . It has a plastic handle so getting it re hardened might be an issue unless it can be removed and replaced? Long story short stuff like that is why.my sister fired him, everything he was giving he butchered. I'm afraid to see the Huskavarna Zero Turn mowers blades. That's my next project.

BitingSarcasm called it. I would suggest using a bench grinder with a coarse belt at slow speed and lots of water dunks to get the edge straight, but then do the final sharpening by hand with stones. It's a brute knife not a kitchen knife so it should still perform its function.
