Can I get a busse with a traditional grind?

I am looking at buying my first busse but I have resisted buying them this long because of the convex grind. I have a few problems with convex edges, mostly sharpening related and was wondering if any busses come in a standard V grind or if it is an option that I can request when ordering.

Also would it negatively effect the knife in any way or make it a worse cutter if I bought the knife and then put a standard edge on it myself?

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Many of the entire Busse Family knives come with "V" grinds. Check the exchange for a LARGE variety.

And as far as putting a "V" on a convex......it's your knife....make it work for you!! It will be you sharpening it, using it.....
I would suggest at least becoming acquainted with the different grinds as far as maintaining the edge so that ANY offering you would be able to work with it.....I would hate to miss out on a great knife just because I didn't like the edge grind.

If I was living in the US I wouldn't care much about sharpening and just send them in to Busse when the time has come. However, because I live overseas I usually put a "v" on them sooner or later to use one of the common sharpening systems (spyderco sharpmaker, EdgePro). I personally think the discussion V vs. convex is quite scientific and doesn't really reflect much on the actual performance of the knife. Sharp is good, dull is bad. Take it easy and make your knives work for you ;)

The CG BJ comes Convex with a V grind edge, and the LE BJ comes Saber with convex edge. You may want the CG.

Already said. Buy it, use it, and put what ever edge on it you want.

I love convex grinds because once you learn how (very very easy to learn), it is the quickest and easiest edge to maintain for me. No set up, just strop on a loaded piece of leather on a hard backing (make my own strops).

But if you like to sharpen V edge and know how, do what you want!

The CG Boss Jack is actually a zero edge convex grind as stated on Busse's website. The coating gives the appearance of a V edge, but once stripped you can tell there is no secondary grind.

Once I realized this I began forming a bald spot trying to figure out why everyone agonizes over the stinkin V-grind and angles, etc. Give up on the V-grind and loosen up a bit. Convex is our friend, it feels so good when you do it, and your family won't leave you for getting hooked...you can actually spend more time with them instead of being hunched over a stone;)

Like many others have said convex is so easy once you get it. 400 grit sandpaper to repair any damage and a loaded strop to polish. V grind is great also, it's just alot of your to maintain without a quality sharpening system or stones. Enjoy whatever you buy and search the forum for some maintenance ideas then try to see what works for you.

thanks for all the tips guys. I might have been sharpening them wrong but I was just using 600 and 1000 grit sandpaper on a mouse pad and it was scratching the shit out of the steel which is fine if its from use but not something I want to do because of incompetence on an expensive knife.
