Can I get a leather "pocket insert" for my Case?

Hi guys,

My favorite traditional that I own and love is a Case Model 6265. I love the size, the looks, the two blades (and I'm usually a one-blade bloke) and everything. It also comes with a very nice leather belt pouch.

I usually love belt-carry knives including belt-carry folding knives. But unfortunately the leather pouch for my case is quite stiff.

Because of my cerebral palsy, my gait has a side to side motion at the waist which kind of hurts when I am wearing this knife. It also hurts me to bend sideways or bend over if I have to, when wearing this knife pouch.

While I would prefer the belt pouch, I'm wondering if perhaps I can get some kind of leather "insert" that can slide into my pants pocket and into which I can put the knife. This way it is still stored in a pouch of sorts, instead of sitting in my pocket wearing out the pocket (it's a fairly large, weighty knife that would start to do a number on my pants if carried regularly in the pocket, I expect.)

Are there any options you can suggest? Hopefully inexpensive? Am I even talking about something feasible? ;)

Here's a stock pic of the knife for help.

I love this knife and wish to carry it more often. Wish the pouch didn't hurt.

I am not a leather worker but I'm sure a local shoe repair or perhaps one of the leather workers on this forum could make a leather pocket insert for you that should help with your problem.

Another possibly solution for you is to have a cross-draw sheath made so it rides on your left front side?

You might check some of the sheaths and pocket slips at Knivesshipfree. Here's a link: http://www.knivesshipfree.com/sheaths/?sort=alphaasc. At 5 1/4", the Case 6265 is a fairly large knife for a pocket slip though. If you can't find a production solution, maybe someone will be able to recommend a customer sheath maker that could put something together to meet your needs. Best of luck.

Thanks everyone. Rhino, I'm actually left-handed so I can just put it front left normally in fact. ;) Knives in my left hand, cane goes in my right!

Alright, then a cross-draw on the right. Also you could have them make it with a strong cant, so its almost runs parallel to your belt, that will make sitting down with it easier.

Good Luck!

I am a hobbyist leatherworker, but I would be happy to work on something for you. I have wondered about a pocket insert, too, so it would be fun to try.

Would a back pocket insert work? Your front pocket bends when you sit down. :)

Would a horizontal belt sheath be out of the way enough to work?

If the belt loop was made from heavy elastic it would stretch and move out of the way when you bent over.

You can buy these from a couple of guys or you could get someone around you to make one, its not difficult or get a sheath and try it yourself. Hangs in pocket with weight on belt. 300
