Can I get a Ratmandu sheath made with a clip sheath like ESEE 6?

Trying to decide between getting an ESEE 6 or a Ratmandu. Leaning towards R6 as I like the sheath with belt clip it comes with.

But Ratmandu has better ergo handles. Does anybody make a Ratmandu sheath with a belt clip?

Thanks guys :)

There are lots of great sheath makers that could do this for you, I suggest going with the RMD. Like you said the RMD has better ergos, and not just that the steel is better as well. I had several Esee's including the 6, and traded them all right after getting them. I got the RMD and it was everything i wanted the Esee 6 to be and so so much more.

I have both and the Ratmandu has much better ergos like Worldwood mentioned, also I think the clip/sheath combo of the 6 might look better on paper but I replace a ton of them... the clip itself (any clip?) is handy though and makes taking a sheath on/off pretty quick. The word "ESEE-6" could be replaced with a bunch of other knives in that size range and once you compare them to the Ratmandu... in the ergonomics dept. it's not a fair fight.

To the sheath question: Yes, I do.

I have a clip that I attach to a backing plate that has a drop & offset to move the knife/sheath down and away from the user. To me the biggest advantage is that you're not confined to a pancake sheath so you can have a Ratmandu Taco Sheath with a drop/offset clip mounted to the back of it.

From the front it's a little smaller than a lg. Tek-Lok: (ESEE-4/Candiru)

On a taco sheath it's a great/slim setup: (TOPS BOB)

This thread now needs a picture of a Ratmandu:

Yeah you definitely can. Contact any number of kydex benders here on the forums. I have the RMD and just got the RC-6. The sheath is good on the RC-6 but not as good as authentic kydex, the kind custom benders work in. The clip plate isnt that great. Its kind of flimsy and is awkward getting on and off. I would prefer having a piece of kydex made that drops the sheath and holds it on my belt with a tek lok. Thats just me though.

IMO the RMD trumps the RC-6. The blade is a better size and has a better steel which takes a better edge in my experience. Not to mention, like you said, the handles are WAY more comfortable. The RC-6 is still a great knife (much better than most), definitely going to keep it in my collection.

Good luck on your search

The ESEE 6 is a good knife with a good warranty, and it was my first fixed blade that I bought 2 years ago. Just got a kydex sheath made for it, by Azwelke and I like it way more. IMHO the stock plastic sheath felt cheap and meh, and I really didn't like it personally. That being said, I convinced my buddy to lend me his RMD for a hunting weekend, and it was that, that pushed me into buying Bussekin knives. Ergonomics were fantastic and it held an edge longer than my ESEE 6. Also after chopping, cutting, and splitting some wood I noticed my hand didn't cramp at all and could continue using it for longer periods of time than the ESEE. I wont be selling my ESEE anytime soon, but I do have a couple RMDs on order :p If your looking at the ESEE solely based on the sheath, buy yourself an RMD with a custom made sheath from one of the guys on the forums, you won't regret it.

The RMD is just an all around better package than the ESEE 6 (keep in mind I LOVE ESEE knives), but the injection plastic sheath that comes on the 6 (same as comes with the 3) is actually a lot tougher than kydex is.
