Can I replace contact wheels with wider ones?

Hello all, I have gained much information lately reading bits and pieces on this forum and appreciate everyone's knowledge so I thought it might be very beneficial to register. I have many questions but will keep them to a minimum and look for answers in previous posts.
That being said, I had hoped someone may enlighten me as to whether or not I could or should replace a 1" contact wheel with a 2" or wider contact wheel on my belt grinder which is a kalamazoo 1sfm model. it has a 1/3 hp single phase baldor motor if that helps.

I really would appreciate any input, I am just starting out and have made only two knives from 01 tool steel but have become quite addicted to the process and it consumes much of my time.

Thank you
Patrick

The small motor would not work for the load of twice the contact surface area. You would be better to build a new grinder from a NWG kit or EERF plans.
