Can I round off the Para D2 edge?

I bought a Paramilitary in D2 not all that long ago and love the knife. Was
wondering though if anyone has taken say a Dremel tool and rounded/smoothed
off the sharp end of the top of the blade? It's not really a problem until I
go into my pocket then it's a bit annoying.
Can this be done without too much of a problem?

thanks,
Sean

I'm sure it can be done with sandpaper on a mousepad. The mousepad would "give" underneath the sandpaper so it would smooth out the ridges. Just hold it at a 45 for both sides and you should be good.

I reckon you could do it with little problem. Is it annoying you when you reach into your pocket to get stuff? Mine does, but the positives far outweigh the hassle.

I always got around that problem by carrying it in the front corner of my back pocket. ;)

A little super-fine sandpaper will do just fine. Go to it!

(and while you're at it, add some filework... :p )

I took out the blade and ground the sharp edge off with my grinder, then polished it afterward, cleaned the whole blade before putting it back in. Sanding the blade with the handle attached will have a lot of metal shaving stuck within the pivot surrounding, thus possibly accelerate the wear of the bronze washers and/or scratched up the blade tang

So how do you like it? I figured that spyderco would have done it if it wouldn't have messed with the lock up.
Why did they leave it like that?

I love mine, it turn out perfect, I agree the process should have done by spyderco. Para-military is an older design, the new para should fix a lot of design flaws

I'm not familiar with that knife, but don't see why you couldn't do this. I've reshaped and smoothed out a few handles with the dremel and sandpaper. Have to be careful with the dremel...depending on which bit you use it can take off more metal than you might expect. If you're just looking to round it out a little I'd start with hand sanding using a fine grit...if that isn't doing the trick then go a little more course until you find one that does the trick. The more course you go the more work you'll be putting into it to get it back to a nice clean polished look.
