Better off the other way around.
Also check out ubuntu linux, I like it better than windows or mac & it's free, though you'll need to be a little more computer saavy if you want to do more than email/web/instant messaging/ office(documents, presentations etc)
I can burn and send you a CD if you can't download & burn yourself one in ISO format.

You can install OSX on a PC, but it's illegal, complicated, and not very usable. If you just like the look, you can make Windows look pretty much identical, with the dock-bar and all. If you just want to get away from Windows, Linux is a good choice. PCLinuxOS is nice and easy, and I believe comes with Compiz for that flashy, futuristic look.

all i need is itunes and the interwebs for "stuff :jerkit:" :D:D

Email sent man.

You might be able to. MacOS supports only a small set of hardware so it's likely you wouldn't get full screen resolution, sound and some peripherals might not work. Or it might crash you entirely. But maybe it will run just fine. There are sites that discuss getting it to work and have renegade drivers for some things.

Also, it violates the MacOS license to do it, but there are instructions around the internet for loading it on a PC anyway.

A virtual machine is probably a better bet but you'll take a performance hit if you're trying to do anything intensive.

Really, if you like Mac (and I don't) buy a Mac. You'll have less trouble than trying to kluge it onto a non-supported PC.

I just bought a MacBook Pro, I've admired my friends Mac for a long while now, and when Leopard came out I new I wanted a Mac, and since I need a new computer and a laptop was something I had good use for that's what I did. A lot of people recommend Unix or Linux on a PC and that should work just as well if you can handle the tech savvy nature of them, me I'm being lazy.

If you only need iTunes and a browser, your best bet is to keep windows, and get the look of Apple's stuff, like kiahs said (search for it on google, you should find lots of ways to do it). Way easier, and you probably won't see much difference.

Use Firefox as a browser, or Opera, they're both better than IE. (Firefox is a lightweight war machine, while Opera is more lightweight but with less features)
I've heard that Apple's browser isn't great either (though better than IE), the only person I know using a Mac uses Firefox on it.

If what you're interested in is getting rid of Windows, just get a Linux, it's free (if you don't look for business stuff like RedHat) and some of the latest, like Ubuntu, are really user friendly (while remaining powerful for the advanced user).
Like on Windows, you can get the Apple look on Linux.

Yes, you can. It is a royal pain in the butt to setup but it is doable. You sort of lose the "it just works" aspect of OS X since you have to patch it to work on whatever hardware you might have and OS updates can break your drivers, etc. but it's still OS X. What you are looking for is "hackintosh." There should be detailed information on how to do it if you search for hackintosh and you may even be able to find out how well your exact model works before trying.

Just succumb and buy a G4 Powerbook.

Resistance is futile.

now im thinking one of those little mini latptops, like this http://www.pcworld.com/article/146984/the_minilaptops_of_summer.html

Now we're talking about serious stuff!
I'm gonna buy the 901 w/ Linux as soon as it's for sale in France.
If you just surf and use iTunes, you don't need a Mac, and those new mini-laptops are way more affordable than the Mac stuff.
If you buy the EEE PC, take the XP version for iTunes compatibility. Or take Linux, sell your iPod, and buy a computer-friendly DAP (Cowon, Creative, Samsung, Sandisk, etc...)

yeah but my new car head unit has ipod connectivity and it kicks ass. also if i go away from itunes i will loose like all my music, i bought most of it from itunes.
