Can I see some not-so-shiny knives?

As a new owner of 2 ESEE knives I saw a lot of new and virtually unused / unabused ESEE knife pictures when shopping; now I would love to see what they look like after they've been beaten up and used as they were intended to be.

Anyone got pictures?

The coating on the ESEE's takes awhile to show abuse-that's why a lot of pics make them look like new but they're not:

This is the kinda stuff I'm talking about! :D tonym, you sure know how to hack up the wood! Love it :D

Yeah, I kinda figured the coatings take a while to wear down a bit, but pictures of the knives knocking the crap out of big lumps of wood is great :D

tonym- that looks like a decent bit of scorching around the bow-drill divot on your 5- have you noticed it changing the micarta any? Has the scale actually worn down, or is it just superficial?

Great pics guys, I need to get some use on my 6 so I can show it off, too.

I have used my bow drill divot extensively. While it does heat up and "scorch" a little, it doesn't wear the micarta down at all. It mostly just turns brown and really shiny.

What he said:thumbup: No wear, just an added bit of character..
;)

slightly off-topic, but has anyone drilled their own bow-drill divot into a micarta handle? What size bit, and what should be used to round it? I like the idea with the 5, but I have a 6, and would much rather modify what I have, vs. buying something different...

You ain't kidding! I have had many knives that I didn't use half as much as my 6 and they made me look like a master woodsman by the look of the coating alone. My 6 has some coating wear but only from hard batoning, anything else doesn't even touch this coating. Best coating I have ever seen on a knife by far.
