Can i sharpen a spyderco Ladybug with a gatco pocket sharpener?

Pull through sharpeners SUCK. The problem with them is they only sharpen one side at a time and the side that goes unsharpened last will have a large burr.

It will sharpen it, but it's not the best method, the angles usually are very thick, and the rods are usually very coarse.

Of all of the pull-through sharpeners I've used I like the Gatco the best. You can use the "bump" or "shoulder" on either side to index the blade angle the way you want it, then smoothly draw at that angle. Don't let the blade touch the bottom of the V. You can touch up the blade with the brown rods, then swap in the white rods (which are basically tiny versions of what we used to call "crock sticks") for a very nice final burnish. I do sometimes turn the device around backwards when I'm working close to the handle -- it gives me a little more reach, but a little less safety. Just sayin' ... ;)

Your question, however, was about sharpening. I treat all of these kinds of tools as honing devices, just touching up a blade that is already built to the desired angles. Nice to have in the drawer of the kitchen or the desk at work, but for serious blade-shaping I use tools that enable me to move more metal.
