Specifically Chase Field in Arizona. I'm going to a baseball game there soon. Do I have to leave my Benchmade 530 at home?

Look up the knife laws for AZ -- that'll tell ya. Now, the ball field may have their own set of rules. Contact them and ask -- that'll tell ya.

Me, I'd just drop my knife in my pocket and take it with me. Sometimes ya gotta be prepared to forefit your knife and not get it back. Hence the old saying; "Never carry a knife you can't afford to lose.

Many stadiums prohibit knives and have guards with metal detecting wands at the door. You will not be arrested for a legal pocketknife, but you will be asked to either forfeit it or go put it in your car . . . then go to the back of the line. But if having a pocket knife at the baseball game is that important to you Charlie Mike could tell you how to smuggle it through the gate with a condom and a piece of string.

Went to a double A game last weekend and they didn't check any pockets, but they went through every bag looking for a bottle of water or a bag of peanuts. I had a Kershaw Blur and a Victorinox Trekker. No problems for me.

id leave it in your car. security may have wands but even if they miss it (which they do in the case of my friend having a zippo in the same pocket and he was just waved along) if you end up using it for ANYTHING consider it a concealed weapon on private property and then you will be detained and may be banned from the stadium. They dont screw around at sporting events anymore and every infraction is considered heanus and they have zero tolerance for it. If your worried about possible self defense situation such as that beating at the dodgers game and the man they beat to death i wouldnt wear team colors or drink to much. avoidance is the best survival technique. Im from PA and they tased a kid for running on the field at a phillies waving a towel, id hate to think what they woulda done if he had a blade.

omni i also went to a AAA game this past weekend and your right i was carrying a blade through the gate no problem (i even used it to open a packet of peanuts), i think pro is a bit different since the crowd is usually many times bigger and rowdier and even drunk(ier?). Good point though i forgot i was even carrying this weekend.

If ever in that situation, just give the stadium a call beforehand, because each one will have its own rules.

So, I did some research for you. The first link lists the items prohibited in the park, knives are not on the list. However after reading the state law it appears pocket knives are protected.

A. A person commits misconduct involving weapons by knowingly:

1. Carrying a deadly weapon without a permit pursuant to section 13-3112 except a pocket knife concealed on his person; or

2. Carrying a deadly weapon without a permit pursuant to section 13-3112 concealed within immediate control of any person in or on a means of transportation...

Under the law you should be fine.

I also check city code and you should be fine too.

Sec. 23-40. - Concealed weapons.

(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person, except a policeman or peace officer in actual service and discharging his duty, to have or carry concealed on or about his person, any pistol or other firearm, dirk, dagger, slung shot, sword cane, spear, brass knuckles, or other knuckles of metal, Bowie knife, or any kind of knife or weapon, except a pocket knife not manufactured and used for the purpose of offense and defense.
