can I take the assist out of my BM mini barrage?

Hey guys. I was digging through my knife drawer earlier and came across my Benchmade mini barrage. When I bought it I thought the axis assist was the coolest thing since sliced bread but after purchasing a plain axis lock BM I realized that (for me) the spring assist took away from the benefit of the axis lock. I really don't care for how much of a PITA it is to close the mini barrage. Other than the spring issue I think it is a pretty cool little knife. I think that if I could somehow remove the spring assist and make it like a regular axis knife then it would see a lot more pocket time. Is it possible to remove the spring from the mini barrage and make it open/close like a regular axis lock knife? If so is there anything special about this process that I need to know? Is it a PITA to replace the spring assist mechanism after removing it? Thanks for the help guys. It breaks my heart to think about this little guy spending its life in a dark corner of a drawer without getting a chance to do any cutting!

It's a spring in the center of the Pivot

You can take it out if you don't like it anymore, it won't destroy the knife and you can reverse the process if you can't get used to manual

Good luck!

The assist is what has prevented me from getting the mini barrage! Just knowing its possible to "Un-assist" it is great to know.

If anyone has photos or knows of a youtube tutorial to help with this would be a big help. I have never messed with a knife but now I will...

Thanks for asking the question Talley1013

I disabled the axis assist in my Barrage, it was actually really easy, I took apart the knife and when I removed the blade the spring was very easy to take out and then I just had to reassemble without the spring, now it works great :)
