Can I use 5/8" buffing wheel with 1/2" arbor?

Hi, I just wanted to know, if you have a 1/2" arbor, can you use a 5/8" buffing wheel? It's for just 6" wheels. Does the 1/8" bigger hole make much difference or cause wobble? Thanks.

Won't work well at all. They do make adapters that you slide over the arbor.Knifemaking suppliers sell them.

Thanks Bill. Will look into the adaptors or just buying the 1/2" wheels. The 5/8" wheels are available at Lowes, so I could just buy them locally. The 1/2" I'd have to order off the Internet. Home Depot and Harbor Freight don't carry buffing wheels. Thanks again.

You can make an adapter or buy one. Don't try running without one, centrifugal force can pull the wheel off center in an instant and you will have one HELL of a vibration.
