Can I use this charger to etch my BK16?

I want to deepen the factory etching on my BK16 before I strip it like a lot of people here on the forums have done to theirs. I have this old car battery charger and I'm unsure if I can use it to etch the knife. Will I end up hurting myself if I use this thing or will it be ok to use? Thanks ~ :D

I'd be using the 10 amp setting.

Prolly be OK, but BE CAREFUL! Make sure you have an EASY way to turn it off (like a switched surge protector) and some eye protection. If you want to blacken it when you're done, you'll need an AC transformer, like a 24VAC doorbell transformer. Here's the thread I did, there are plenty of others: Electro etching my new BK 16 & patina

Trust your instincts here. It's obliviously a bad idea if you have to ask. Regardless what others here say.
I'm not beckerhead or an election. Though I have worked with some. I personally wouldn't trust it. The dust on it might cause problems inside. The toggle between 10-50 amps is scary. If there was a short and you touched the wrong thing. It might not kill you. But could still cause Atrial fibrillation. Or might even just catch on fire. the same Volt's, amp's, ohm's, watts might not kill you one day. But might kill you tomarrow. I would go a safer route like say a 9 volt battery. Small or the jumbo size one.
PCB acid etch has risk too. Although a better option than that charger.

Thanks for the replies and the advice  I think I'm going to go with something smaller to etch - a 9v battery. No need to risk anything using this ancient charger.

been using cell phone chargers, small gator clips + salt & vinegar for years without a problem. That def looks overkill.
