The Magnum Camp is back, the Machax is coming this year maybe... Patrol Machete is off due to tooling (but hopefully not dead yet) --- so the Reinhardt Kukri is next right? :)

I noticed Camillus didn't make the Reinhardt either... is there a rights issue at stake? Just wondering if anyone heard why its not being re-released?

Either way I want them all back. If I could bring only one back though, It'd be the Reinhardt. Thing is straight up sick.

The kukri was one of my favorite Beckers! I once had a contest to see who could Delong a downed ash first. My brother used a chainsaw and I used the Becker Kukri. I won :D!

i believe i heard a bellow in the woods to something of the effect that from Ethan's POV, as long as the great Mr Reinhardt stays passed, so will his khukri, out of respect.

on the other hand, there will be great rejoicing and interesting days according to the post from Tooooooj.

on the gripping hand, i expect some gnashing of teeth and wailing :)

so you CAN have it all...

"what is the riddle of steel?"

Thanks Bladite. Oh well it's worth a wish.
Personally I thought it would have been an excellent way to remember the greatness of Mr Reinhardt by seeing his design back in production.

Hey Daniel.....

At some point, somehow I would truly love to honor Hank with a new Reinhardt Khukri.....The original Blackjack blade is freaking scary in it's ability to move wood (need to behead a cow -- no prob).....What I would truly LOVE to see is a Becker handle , flat ground 1/4 in blade with slightly (and only slightly) less forward mass than the original....I was reminded last year reading George MacDonald Fraser's excellent autobiography of the Burma campaign how close the emotional attachment of the line soldier and his Khukri could get......If BTW, you have denied yourself the excellent prose of Frazier you should start reading him .......Anywhoooo, back to topic.....I would give a great deal to get Hank's Khukri up and going .....Not gonna be soon, but I do hope sometime.....

Thanks for the post....Every time Hank's name comes up it gives me an opportunity to remember one of the most decent and civilized people I have ever known.......

All Best.....

Thanks Ethan. When it comes, it comes and I'll certainly be in line if it does!

This post inspired me to go outside and "move wood." :p
I went through a ~3" piece of seasoned pecan in no time.
Now if I just had a cow out back. :D

mmm, i dunno. that forward weight, esp right over the sweet spot is one of the reasons imho khukris work so well and/or that i like them, and makes the chopping happen. a thickish spin makes for VERY good batoning, but doesn't need to be 3/8 like some HI models i have.

where is the weight with an axe? right behind the edge. yar.

having used a few khukris that can give an axe a run for the money, i definitely have opinions ;)

I LOVE those pics. How thick is that thing? Oh, and how about the weight. I have a KHHI khukuri and it's a beast but I find I don't use that often. Mmmm, I want one.

The Reinhardt was a 1/8" saber ground right? I think this fits the "light machete" role well. i.e. not so deep biting that it gets stuck all the time.

Going full flat ground like the Cold Steel Kukri series is just begging for lots of wedging / binding. I've had a couple and hated the handles and the binding. HI Kukris are of course a different animal - excellent choppers with amazing balance and convex grind.

Now a modern full convex ground would be a beast but probably not able to mass manufactured.

Holy sweet baby jesus! I would very much like to see a 1/4" khukri like you describe!
As an owner of a Reinhardt, I 100% agree with Ethan about it's scaryness :D

The Reinhardt was a beast! I held one a year ago, and had a chance to buy it. I've made few mistakes in my life I want to fix more than the fact I skipped that (I try to avoid regrets, this is one of the few). Anyway. Ethan if you ever bring the Reinhardt back, I'll be there to buy me four (I need two extras for when I throw the first two and decapitate the attacking cows!), now I just need to find me a sheet of kydex big enough to make those sheaths...

Ethan,

It will cost you a case of Rombauer Reserve Zinfandel....No make that two cases. ;)
Same Vintage that you brought to the Cammie Auction.

I'm not easy but I can be had.

Best Regards,

Toooj

Ok, we can as a group get that done to make this happen. So who's in?
Comon Toooj, no teasing:cool:

I'm in ..........:D just tell how much to send and where .... we (as a group) can buy 2 cases to get this deal rolling!!

Oh yes, one other thing...........someone else (Ethan) will have to do the buying...............I got NO Friggin idea at ALL about wine!

I've never had any wine, (beer either for that matter) I could even "learn" to like...YUK.

I know, I'm an uncivilized and uncouth Red-neck, but that's how I roll!

WOOOOOHOOOO!!!! HONOR THE MODS!!! BRIBE THE MAKERS!!!!!

Toooj, if thats all it it took, we'd a done this months agao:D
