I am wondering if it is possible to remove the Assisted opener mech in a ZT301. Also, is the reassembly very difficult??

It takes about 10 min for a first timer. All you need to do is remove the body screws and pivot screw WHILE THE KNIFE IS IN THE OPEN POSITION--and then remove the torsion bar--it looks like a long paperclip that has been unraveled. Then, reassemble carefully making sure to not mis-thread the screws, and wallah bye bye speedsafe.

I think you'll like it better with the torsion bar in it though, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Good luck!

Be careful, though. Sometimes, depending on the knife, removing the torsion bar turns a knife of maybe questionable legality (depending on local laws) into a knife of certain illegality (gravity knife). I don't recall if the 0301 and it's ilk have enough strength in the detent ball keep the blade closed during a wrist flick.

Just tighten the pivot to the point where it cannot be flicked.:)
