can Kasper Companion double as a "survival knife"?

Anybody have any experience with the Kasper Companion? I was wondering how it fares as a survival knife. It's design seems for fighting, but does that mean it will fail as a survival oriented knife? Is it lacking some key attribute/s that a survival knife really needs? For example, comparing a Kasper Companion and a BM fixed Griptililian, is the Griptilian better suited for survival?

what about a Kasper companion along with a multi-tool? would the Kasper Companion be a good addition if one needs a larger blade for survival purposes?

What are you looking to survive? What environment are you going to be in? What sort of cutting tasks do you expect your "survival knife" to handle?

Are you speaking of the CRKT version , or the actual Kasper knife ?

Either way I think that model is more suited for SD/fighting than a woods type knife one might want for "survival knife" purposes.

By the way I'm not saying it's a bad design at all ! :)

A good MT is a definite plus to any well rounded survival kit.

It seems to be double hollow ground. In my opinion, that is not an optimal design for all-round outdoors work. Should slide through clothing and flesh well.

i have both the custom and the CRKT version and while i dont think they are the best choice for a survival knife it would do & be better than no knife at all for sure.

i dont think mine is double hollow ground (the custom one) but i will have to look and be sure i havent carried it in a while now.

they are both definitely A#1 self defense FB's, as long as ya get a decent sheath for ther CRKT version.

i suppose of the grip and the companion i would pick the companion just because its a FB, i can think of worse combos than a companion and a multi tool for survival.
