Anyone ever get bored and look to see what's in their knife cabinet, chest, drawer, etc and it's so deep with BNIB knives that you decide to see what the hell is in there? Then as your pulling out the boxes you're saying to yourself "geez, I didn't know I had one of those or one of those or one of those". Then come to the conclusion "maybe I do have to many knives"? That is until I see another knife I think is cool and buy it :D (maybe I am as crazy as these woman with their shoes and hand bags  )

With 300+ knives, the answer is no, I never find a knife I didn't know I had, I know 'em all.

I never say "I have too many knives" it's like Jello, there's always room for more... ;)

I'm nowhere close to that point yet. But if you find knives you forgot you had, then I'd say you're close to too many knives. If there is such a thing.

I have about 500 knives and I couldn't name each one but once I see a knife I remember where it is from. Since I bought 2 new ones in the last week it must mean that one can never have too many knives.

I never got the whole thing with women and shoes, purses, whatever, until I got into knives. Now I know how they feel. :D The thing about knives is that you're always sure the next one will be THE ONE. Of couse it never is, so the search continues. :grumpy::p

Most of my fixed blades are hidden away. I was digging some out the other day looking for one particular knife and found several that I didn't remember buying.

If I have gone several months without using a knife, up for sale it goes. I use all of the knives I keep, no safe queens for me. So to answer your question, as long as you are able to use them you can't have too many!
Happy collecting:)

Herein lies the secret to obtaining more knives when the "little lady" says, "What...Another knife, I thought you already had a knife?" "What...another purse/shoes, I thought you already had a purse/pair of shoes?":surprise:

I actually don't feel the same way. I've luckily broken myself of the habit of impulse buys, which has caused the reverse to happen, where I research everything to death before I actually buy anything. I've now been "into" knives for almost a year and a half, and have purchased a grand total of ... 4 knives since then, with the most recent one being January of this year.

I personally think that if you're forgetting you own them, then you're pushing the limit. But then again, I'm new to this :p.

Every time I get in financial difficulties I regret having as many knives as I do and wish I could easily convert them all into cash without having to lose money.

When the money is plentiful I can always think of a knife I just have to have. Even if I know I won't need that knife, or any that look like it.

I have more than I need in this lifetime and could buy a decent car with what I put in knives over the years.

Speaking of cars, that's a hobby that can eat up even more money very easily. You very seldom get back what you have into a car. You can with knives if you shop the trends and know what's going to be hot and always in short supply.

i came to the conclusion yesterday that i was a knife junkie...hadnt bought a new one in about 2 weeks and was starting to itch so i picked up a sweet little orange g10 lil muk in d2. i started my search fo my next knife about 30 min later:D

its not about numbers, its about justification. if you can justify buying or owning X amount of knives....whats the problem?

im different than many on here, im more of a user than a collector, but i do buy 2 of darn near every knife i buy.
if i LOVE it i keep both...just in case i lose/lend one and NEED another. otherwise one gets sold/traded to continue to search for "perfect" knives of every type and size.

Every hobby that you are seriously into will cost you a lot of money
I don't even wanna add up what I spent on motorcycles, parts, equipment and clothing in the last few years.
I think you could buy a truckload of knives for that ;)

That said, I'm not a collector (yet) - I buy knives to use them, if I don't use them they get sold or given away

I know all of mine and I have several! I do not have too many and I do not have a problem. I am not in denial either!!!!!
