Sorry if the answer is posted elsewhere, didnt find it.

The 4 day work week didn't shorten weekly work hours.

Beautiful knife. I have a large Stars & Stripes.

Do whatever floats your boat.Your knife has lots of''charater" now.Youll

lose that look and have a seb looks much nicer. You may be too careful of the

"new" knife and be afraid to really use it hard the it was when you got it.

I'm not sure if CRK refurbishes the graphic colors. They can clean off scuffs and repolish handle or blade.

Personally, I also have a tanto Sebenza and it has its own unique graphic, but it's an enthusiastic user and I have no interest in refurbishing it.

My S&S was a plain regular for which I recently bought a S&S front plate. It will earn its own honest scars. :)

I'm pretty sure CRK can refinish your knife, and do a great job, because I have an Umfaan that was refinished. Whether you want to do that or not is a different question. If that would be the only reason to send it in, I'd skip it (but YMMV). If, on the other hand, it needs other work, I'd go ahead and get the full spa treatment - blade refinish/resharpen, scales refinish, etc. You'll still be ahead, considering your starting purchase price.

Great thoughts JN!
Most of my sebs have led a charmed life. :)

Indeed - nice!!!

I bought the other one that was for sale from that thread and have been quite pleased. It doesn't show as much wear, but I'm going to leave it as is until (if ever) it needs a return to CRK. Mine's a 1997. Shows about 80% lockup, which is fine.

Funny thing - I threw it into the ultrasonic cleaner today and while it didn't do anything about the minor rubs on the scales, everything (especially the backspacer) is dramatically cleaner. I'm used to the u/s cleaning stuff up, but this one must have had quite of bit of plaque bonded to everything, including the blade itself. Quite surprising, and good. Not exactly a refurb, but a nice deep cleaning.

I've gotten good results cleaning metal handles with nothing more exotic than an alcohol pad. They are especially effective on anodized titanium, where they remove oils that dull the colors.

Yep, and I had done that. The u/s took it to another level.

Never used a ultra sonic cleaner......sounds like its worth looking into.
Any suggestions on what brands to either look for or stay away from?

Thanks again.

I'll give that a shot, initially, EB.
Getting back into CRK's after a hiatus....... On the hunt for MORE. :D

Ahem...

At work, over the last year or so, those little telephone disinfectant pads have come out in force. I will admit that I have found other, arguably better, uses for them than wiping down the telephone... ;) :D

There are two leading brands - buy a good one. Crest is one, I forget the other. Hint: I bought mine from a dental supply place in NJ as an open box return from a dental office for a *huge* discount. It was new, and came with a full guarantee. I cannot tell you how many things I've found it useful for cleaning - most offbeat was probably a carburetor.
