No well stocked kitchen should be without one of these. For that special occasion when something else is needed, well here it is.....

The larger one was hand forged from the same piece of jack hammer bit I did the belt ax out of last week. It turned out the way I wanted since I was trying to maintain the hexagon shape of the bit. The heads just under 11" and it has a 3" plus cutting edge. The smaller one's head is just under 9" and has a cutting edge of just under 3". It was forged out of a 1" square bar of 1084. Both have curley maple hafts but the darker one ain't got the strips like the other. I still need to put another coat of finish on them.

Very nice, Raymond.......really like that Turks Head knot........sets 'em off. :)

I've got enough from the first jack hammer bit to a good sized battle ax and then a even larger bit. I've still got a bunch of the square materal but I've really fallen for the hex shape. Did some checking for steel locally and my main supplier carries 1080 in 3/4 and 1" hex. I see myself after the Las Vegas Show buying 20' of each.
