Can repair services be purchased for a blem?

I'm sure there are a lot of you out there with blem knives, some of them because the regular production models are hard to find (SG2 JYD, S60V blur, etc). I was wondering how Kershaw handles blemished knives. I know the standard warranty is void, I have absolutely no problem with that. But does Kershaw flat out deny service? What sort of options are there out there for their blems? I've read that the majority of their blems are in appearance only, so denying service of a knife due to known mechanical issues before buying shouldn't really be an issue here.

As to why I'm asking this question, I have quite a few blems (thanks to kershawguy) but also have a 0551 blem. It has developed a slight amount of blade play that bending the lock bar over will not fix. I would definitely be willing to pay for service if it were available. I haven't asked Kershaw directly yet, but I know Thomas monitors this forum pretty regularly. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, they will perform regular services on the blems like working on blade play and other things. I have not had to have them do anything serious, like replacing a blade or anything, but they have sharpened blems. they are really pretty good about this stuff and giving them a call will clear up all of your problems. if they won't fix it, which i doubt, then it is probably fixable for a slight fee from someone else.

P.S. where in the heck did you get an 0551 blem?????

Thanks for the input, I'll have to give them a call soon. And as to where I got it, Thomas was nice enough to send one to me a while back. I'm hoping kershawguy can get his hands on some at the warehouse sale this year.

As to blems, I guess the best way to describe the support behind them is as follows.

We sell the blems at seriously low prices. We don't particularly like looking at them when there here, and we seriously don't like to see the returned for any warranty work. There is not enough dollars in them to offer full service once the sale is final.

The deal of the day does have its limitations.

Thanks for your understanding.

So I'm taking that as you do not offer any support for blems, regardless of if a customer pays for the work? I don't know if you guys have anything set in place to charge customers for service as I've never had to send in a knife before. I definitely would not expect any service for free with a blem, and that wasn't the purpose of this thread. I would gladly pay shipping both ways and to have the knife fixed (*up to a certain amount of course, wouldn't make sense to throw a ton of money into a knife with no warranty).

I love the pricing on blems and will continue to buy them. Thank you for offering them to customers at such a low price
