I have an OLD bucklite and the engraving on the bottom of the blade says ^ so its from 1988? can anybody give me a little more information about it?

Well ITE would be the guy to answer cause I would have to bet he has one of the most extensive collections on the planet, but I'll take a stab. That is the 2nd of 4 generations of Bucklite folders. They appeared in catalogs from 88-95, yours should be 425mod blade steel, and should have been to around 94. 95 and maybe part or all of 94 would be 420hc. Handle is valex thermoplastic and has no inner liners in the body. Nice knives. Buck set out with the Bucklite project to prove that a lightweight folder that could hold up to full, hard usage was doable when all others had said it wasnt. Buck was correct:D
 
yeah, I have one like that only it's red and carries the Boy Scout emblem on the blade.... a version 2 "Bucklite" Only I never used it -still in the box and unsharpened!

now when we see a bandaged hand holding a razor sharp knife we got to ask.....????????

We were amazed how much abuse those plastic handles could take, bounce back from impacts that would deform the brass liners of the day. Was a very successful introduction.
