Can Someone Answer This Steel Question for me Once and For All?

Just because I hear so many discrepancies...

CPM S30V: Different from S30V?
CPM 154: Different from 154cm?

I hear, often, that the CPM is just stating that the steel is made by Crucible.
However, my understanding is that the "P" stands for "powdered", meaning that the manufacturing process for CPM s30v or CPM 154 is different than for s30v or 154cm. Specifically different in the sense that the powdered steel results in a finer grain structure.

So...is all s30v also CPM s30v? Is there a difference? Does CPM denote the manufacturer or a different manufacturing process?
Same questions go for 154cm vs CPM 154.

Thank you! Not trying to start any big debates. I just hear so many different answers, specifically on youtube, and I want to get to the bottom of this!

1. No difference.
2. Yes, different.

CPM indicates it's a PM steel made by Crucible. 154cm is made by a variety of sources and is an ingot steel, CPM-154 is a PM steel and only made by Crucible.

What he said^^^

There is no "regular" S30V, it's all made by the PM (particle metallurgy) process and only made by Crucible. There are other companies using similar processes but S30V is proprietary to Crucible, so yes all s30V is CPM S30v. CPM 154 is the PM version of the widely manufactured 154cm, and it is seen by most as significantly better.

CPM154 is a refined 154CM. Same steel, more or less, but it is created using the CPM process which makes the steel better in almost every way. S30V or CPM-S30V is the same as Chevy or Chevrolet. Same name, one is just shorter.
