i see many italian companies names followed by SpA. I can safely assumt that it is something like INC., but does anybody know what it stands for?

Azioni [share]? I always knew it as Anonima [anonimous] .We'll have to find an Italian member. Anomina implies limited liability as does incorporated or limited .....ALFA Romeo ,,Anomina Lombarda Fabbrica Automobile !! I'm checking to see if this is another North-South difference like 'per favore'[southern for a favor] vs per piacere [northern if it pleases you]...In swiss italian it's anonima.

I think that it specifically refers to a publicly held company, so share would make more sense; an LLC is different than a c corp

thanks, NV

An SpA (società per azioni) is a share based corporation. It may or may not also be a publicly held company. Italian law provides for non share based corporations, as well.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any more questions.
