I never looked in this section before but I am intrigued by these traditional folders. They remind me of original boy scout knives which I was never one. Or like the most original form of a pocket knife.

Can someone tell me is this knife traditional. The tang says stainless Japan. That's all the writing on it.

To me traditional means a fixed or folding knife that is of a classic or "traditional" pattern or otherwise antique and not modern or tactical in design which is what you have there, correct me in dates but around late 80's spyderco and benchmade, then kershaw rose to popularity with more modern, quasi tactical in design where prior most knives were along the Buck or Case variety or Swiss Army, am sure there are some experts here that can clarify more but that's the layman explanation

As far as this sub forum is concerned the definition, although a little loose, is in the title.

If you spend a little time looking at what's posted here, it'll be evident pretty quickly. Your little knife fits in here just fine. It's a bit like the old "Lobster" patterns.

To me, the definition of traditional is, would my great grandfather recognize it as something used in his day?

Or;

Would it look at home pulled from the pocket of a working cowboy on the trail in the 1880's, or a store clerk's pocket in 1912?
