Can some explain blade angles to me? OK, when someone says that a blade was cut or sharpened at a 30 degree angle, what exactly does it mean? Does it mean that each side of the blade was sharpened at a 15 degree angle, so added up it = 30 degrees? Or does it mean that each side was cut at a 30 angle? Also, does anybody know what angle the blade on my Spyderco Endura us cut at?

When someone refers to a blade being sharpened at 30 degrees, they are usually referring to a 30 degree included angle; that is, 15 degrees, each side.

Spyderco generally sharpens their knives between 30 and 35 degrees included angle. You might be able to get a more precise answer over at the Spyderco forum.

As a Knifemaker & Dealer this is what I do when I sharpen knives. I use a 25 degree angle per side, I sell Spyderco, but not alot of them, and I carried one at one time. I found a 25 degree angle was right on the money. This is a topic that the next guy or gal will say I'm full of it, and tell you their way is right, so take what you want and leave the rest. :)
