I kind of like the looks of the Zero Tolerance ZT100, but am not really that knowledgable about knives. I saw a video online where the sales rep talked about how strong and tough the blade was. I am looking for as close to indestructbile as possible. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm a thinkin you're in the wrong forum . :D
If you posted in General, you would probably get quite a few replies.
I'm sure one of the mods will be by soon to put it in the correct spot for you.

If that's what you want then you need to be looking at Busse.

You can find them for sale here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=804

Also watch the testing videos here, these are very hard tests, both field and destruction tests, they will give you a general idea:

The ZT 0100 looks like it might be pretty strong, but this guy broke one pretty easy smacking it with a board here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTwK4els09g

You call that breaking pretty easy? I'm amazed at what it stood up too for a knife as small as it is. I have one, and it's not at all large, or thick. It does chop and cut well, but hitting it on the side with a 2X4 is attacking it at it's weakest point. This is not what you would be doing if you chopped or cut, or even batoned with it.

This video didn't in the least make me nervous about using mine hard, or recommending it to others.

3V is an excellent steel that takes an excellent edge easier than most stainless steels. It likewise has more wear resistance than traditional high impact carbon/alloy steels like 5160, L6, S1 S7, A2, etc.

i opted for a zt100 over a busse TB...price vs. performance...the only thing the zt can't do over the busse is survive more hammer hits in a deliberate attempt to break the blade (no question; the busse is tough)...barring that, i think it will serve hard field use well for a long time...

I would have to see more tests comparing it to to other options out there before making a real choice if it's strong or not.

This is what he said he wanted....... ;)

That is why I recommended Busse, they make the most bullet proof, toughest blades out there right now. :D

No one was was questioning your suggesting a Busse (based on reputation, it would certainly fill the OP's needs), the objection was to saying breaking the ZT 0100 was pretty easy.

Don't forget the time that was spent pounding (inconsistently) on that ZT with the hammer before breaking the blade.

i found it real difficult watching someone hammer the crap out of a perfectly fine zt and busse just to get to their breaking point...

Yeah I know he was, he missed a lot. LOL

yea i'm really interested in the zt0100 some1 should do a destruction test of it. it's not a large knife. like .19 thick 5.5 inches but i think for it's size it might hold up well (wish it wasn't a recurve though)

At least he admitted that he knew the knives would break.

So, If I ever need to hammer a knife into a log and hit it with a 2x4  I wont be buying any of those knives.:rolleyes:

What a waste of good knives. :thumbdn:
