Hey everyone, this is my first post. I am having trouble choosing between the Buck vantage force pro and the spyderco para 2. Just wondering if anybody had both and could tell me what they like better. On ebay the vantage is $71, and the para 2 is around $110. Thank you!!

You can't lose with either. It comes down to your preference. It would be nice if had someplace where you can get to hold both and make your decision with that data.

Yeah, I've held a paperstone vantage before, but never a force pro nor a para 2. I'm just thinking for the money the Vantage force pro seems more worthwhile, but everybody seems to love the para 2

I had a Buck Advantage Pro. Sold it. Didn't like the scales, not enough texture for me. The pivot pin seems small for a knife that size. Liked the blade and the pocket clip.
I've only had the Para 2 for about a month. So far I really like it. All pros, no cons.

Hey man, I don't have the Force Pro, but I do have the small Vantage Pro and the Para2, and I have to recommend the Para2 hands down.

Some of my reasons for this is that the Para2 is extremely well built and usable in comparison to the Vantage Pro. The handle is grippier and more ergonomic and the blade is extremely good at slicing and cutting. The lock is also really easy to use and holds up well for me. Finally, the blade is full flat ground and is an awesome cutter while not being too fragile for me. Some people complain that the tip is too thin, but unless your prying with it you should be fine.

The reason why I don't recommend the Buck is because I've had serious liner lock and bladeplay issues with my personal knife. The lock literally jumped all the way across the tang after about a week of carry and opening, and the bladeplay is so bad that it will not go away unless the pivot is so tight I can barely open the knife.

I would personally recommend just saving up for the Para2, it is really really worth paying the money for and you won't regret the purchase. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks guys, I'm starting to lean more towards the para 2, and like coop said the pivot pin looks really small. Plus the para 2 has the dual pivot screws which have worked well for me. thanks again!

IMO, the Buck has a vastly superior blade design. It has an actual belly-more useable cutting edge in a smaller space.

How is the para more usable? Also, the small vantage pro has different scales then the force pro don't they? I think they have more grip to them. I have the large garage pro and like it alot. I still want a para2 though.

Hey man, I don't know about the grippiness, but last time I handled a Vantage Pro, both my small and a friend's large, they have fairly slick handles that only feel good one way in my hand. Probably not for all people, but in my hand, I couldn't really choke up because of the flipper, and the general design felt kind of funky for some reason.
The Para 2 has a way more comfortable grip for me in almost any way and having a choil to choke up in is suprisingly useful for smaller or more detailed cutting.
Finally, In terms of quick use both would be fine, but I also realized that if I use my Vantage Pro for more than a couple minutes the part of the liner that sticks out of the handle starts getting pretty uncomfortable. The Para 2, not having any protusions by where you grip, feels a lot more comfortable if I have to squeeze down or hold onto it for longer.

Hope this makes sense.
