Hey all,

I have always wanted to try and make a knife. You all know this story and have heard it a million times. Well I think I would learn best if I could watch someone or more importantly, ASK QUESTIONS of someone that knows what they are doing. I am not talking anything in depth time consuming, just some general "how to" and "what do you do here" questions. I would like to learn the RIGHT WAY from the beginning.

So I come here asking if you all can tell me how I can find a knifemaker in my area. I haven't seen any shows advertised around here so I don't know how else to find them. I am in the Cape Coral and Ft. Myers area of Southwest Florida.

If someone knows of a resource that I can search, please let me know.

Thanks

Finish filling out your profile. This will help folks to know a little more about you. There are several in that end of the state and maybe one will be willing to take you under their wing!

I'm exactly in Nalajr's boat...in fact, I have a small group of guys (my Dad, Brother, and a few of my closest friends) here in Jacksonville that are really interested in learning how to make knives. Is there anyone in or around the Jax. area that would be willing to take us under your wing or hold a class for us (we'd be willing to compensate someone for their time if that's an issue).

Thanks in advance,

Todd

Take a look at a recent copy of Knives Annual. In the back of every edition are large lists of knifemakers and knife clubs/guilds etc., organized by state. It's a great reference work for that alone, never mind the hundreds of pictures of killer knives. :)
