I have a Bowie type knife passed down from my father. The only mark I can find is the marking *Abel* on the blade and on the sheath.. Handcrafted by Abel with an imprint of a mountain lion. I will send pics to those interested, I have not figured out yet how to post photos on this post. I appreciate any help! Thank you

I checked a selection of Knives Annuals, from 1983 to present. No maker listed with that last name.

Often smalltime makers would not submit their credentials to the publishers. I don't doubt it's a good knife, however, you aren't going to find it's got much notoriety if it's not a renowned maker.

My guess it will be a great keepsake from your father to you and passed down to others. :)

Maybe someone other than me has heard of this maker?
