Can someone help me ?

Hello everyone!

I'm in france and i bought an interesting folder..
I really want to know what this is.
It is a sort of folder but the blade is too long to fit in the folding part.
So like half of the blade is sticking out.
Can someone help me with this?

Well, to me, it sounds like a quite common and safe knife called a d'Estaing knife or folding Bowie.

Also Marbles' Safety Knives are a similar build. Been around since about 1900. Still making and selling them.

The style has been around for nearly 200 years made by US, English, German and French companies. Also lots of copies of English ones made in India/Pakistan.

I have a very nice French made one with a Damascus blade.

Wow....ok...I've seen pics of those in the past.....just kept on looking else where after scratching my head....but ok? Interesting at the least.

Nothing head-scratching about it. Not at all unusual or bizarre.
