Can someone ID the handle type on this SJ

Thats a SJ TAC with what looks like maybe snakeskin micarta

Gator97 working on the site again I see. Looks like I was the first to view some of the new pic in your Gallery

Yeah :) I have a lot of catch up to do. Plus I'm moving all the knife info into MYSQL database, for reports/statistic data etc. In other words viewing should become more "robust"...
Thanks for help guys!

Always like that site but noticed it hadnt got much love lately. How come you didnt come to the Norcal get together?

canvas micarta, nice and grippy, with thick fabric lines. for roughness, it kinda goes

canvas micarta
linen micarta
paper micarta
g10
aluminum

with the various natural and odd materials thrown in here and there. I don't know where mp45 falls in. I would assume from the looks of it it would be similar to paper micarta...

G10's roughness is very much dependent on the type of G10 and its finish. Grab a spyderco military's G10 handle and tell me it's smooth than paper micarta :) From pictures Busse's G10 looks like it's somewhere between paper and linen though.

Great to see you posting here Gator97! Your pics and reviews of Busse knives made me buy my first Busse knife! Awesome job! BIG Thank you and I can't wait to see some reviews of newest models!

Just for the record, there is no such thing as a Fusion Satin Jack. The only production knives that have come out with the Fusion Handles have been the FBM and FSH (and variants thereof).

The model shown is a Satin Jack TAC.

That looks like snakeskin alright. Snakeskin is a fusion of alternating layers of canvas, linen and paper micarta. Nice stuff- if you can get it!

i did not know that about snakeskin micarta... I just assumed it was varying colors of canvas.

I'm going off of my experience with busse's use of those materials. my linen sj and pauls hatchet were very smooth, but still rougher on the smoothest parts then the paper micarta of my Nick and nark. and the smoothest parts on those were still rougher then the g10 on my batac. I'm just assuming aluminum is smoother then all of them.

if I took 60 grit sand paper to all of them, I would assume (partly from experience) that the canvas would be the roughest, linen slightly rougher then the others under canvas, and aluminum, g10, and paper would all be similar surface wise.

The Sus Scrofa has a fusion handle also (not the Mini Sus Scrofa).

That's interesting. I would love to see a picture of that.

Regarding G10 vs the various micartas:

This is a picture of three different TAC handled knives, one in black paper, one in hand-shaped black canvas, and the other in G10:

I would rate these from slickest to grippiest in the order of paper, canvas, G10. I think the surface treatment makes the biggest difference. I would bet that a standard TAC handle in canvas would be the grippiest of the options. Hand shaped G10 is too slick for my tastes. That is one of the reasons I traded off my FBM Prototype with the black/blue handles.

BTW, Chickenplucker, the answer is yes.
