I have a large regular Sebenza purchased used. I believe it is an older one and I was hoping someone could help me identify it and the blade steel.

The handles have three small grooves machined into each end, it has the older style clip and one handle is stamped "A 98".

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like it might me an "LDC" sebenza, I forget what it stand for but CRK along with some other manufacturers make their knives with a special design. Not terribly common, but I don't know if they have strong collector value. More then likely the steel is BG-42.

Found a pic of the LDC seb, may nto be what you have

I've always wanted and LDC sebenza, I've never even seen one come up for sale...

Anyhow, I took what he described as "have three small grooves machined into each end" to be the ridges around the older style Sebenza handles...the older ones had that running all the way around them....my guess is that it is BG42.

No, I think these are just the earlier version of the Large Sebbie. They were on the ends of the slabs, not the faces. That is a good looking knife, though.

DaveH - That is nice Sebbie you have there. Some what along the lines of a Busse Combat Grade but in a Sebenza. Maybe a Combat Grade Computer Graphic.

Did just that when I had to order a replacement clip. It is the older style handles with the older steel (BG42?)
