Emerson Knives has a feature on MOST of their knives that is a curve at the top of the blade(looks kinda like a ocean wave) that faces UP(blade it carried tip up as well). When you remove the knife from your pocket, the "wave" catches your pocket and opens the blade. It takes a LITTLE practice, but once you figure out the angle you need, the blade locks tight and the knife is ready to go.... It is VERY fast... It will amaze anyone nearby when the blade snaps open before it is barely out of your pocket. Makes my Benchmade auto's look slow! Look at the pics of Emerson knives below and look ate top of blade near where blade meets the handle scales. You can see the "wave like" feature.

Hope this helps,

You can mod most knives, buy cutting the wave into the blade. Or, if you have a blade with an opening hole, you can put a zip-tie on it. You'll see a bunch of pics if you search.

Some blades are more condusive to this mod than others. Most Spydercos are good candidates because of the Spyderhole and the hump associated with it.

The BenchMade 420 Resistor is also a very good one. (which I happen to carry and have a wave mod on that I did myself)

I recently did a Spyderco ATR stainless that came out pretty sweet also because the knives with the washers in them are just smoother and easier on the pockets than say a FRN knife.

See my homepage in my profile for a link to some other pics under Rave mods and permission to do Wave mods.

Also, I recommend the video vault at the Emerson knives web site. I think those short video clips are pretty awesome. You need media player to see them.
