Can someone please tell if I have a decent knife or not

I was given an extremely heavy, extremely shiny and extremely sharp knife by new friends last year.
I was hoping to get it valuated but I'm completely unsure how to go about it. It has no brand markings, seems that the handle is made of bone and I can't even tell what metal is used? Most likely stainless steel due to its shininess but please correct me if I am wrong.

I would love others opinions!

I can email pictures.

Thank you!

Thanks anyway!

I wasn't planning to sell it or anything but I totally understand. I just wanted to find out what the knife actually is and how old, was there maybe I website where I can narrow it down?

Hi Jade and welcome to Bladeforums.

I’m sure you will find help on this site on identifying your knife.

If your able, try to create an account on a free image sharimg site such as Imgur. You will then be able to upload a picture of your new knife.

Once other members can see pictures it’s very likely someone will know the make/model.

For asking a knife value, part of the forum rules require a level of membership.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for all of your help, I really do appreciate it!

Hopefully this works..

? Let me know if I just completely failed.

They are right about us telling you an actual value. But people can help you identify your blade by possible makers or discuss possible materials as well and give you some direction. Then you can research the value of the knife yourself.

To me that looks more like a decorarive piece. If you like it there's nothing wrong with it for that purpose, but its probably not going to be truly sharp or even safe given its size and assumed uses.

Are there any markings or words anywhere on the knife? Do you have a picture of the sheath? Any clues where it came from or where it was ordered from?

That’s a very unique knife for sure! This may be difficult to ID!

You can try to put a small drop of vinegar on the blade for ten minutes to see if it causes a dark discoloration. If it does not it’s probably a type of stainless.
