Can someone please tell me what I want?

I've been going through the EKI web site trying to figure out what I want but now I'm more confused than ever.

Here's what I'm looking for.

A left side knife to back up a right side commander. I'd like a blade with a highly utilitarian design; everything from tactical to splinter-getting. It must have a wave. It should be small enough to use for cutting an apple in the employee lunch room without raising eyebrows but not so small to be useless for PD.

Any ideas or suggestions?

TIA

you mean you dont want to carry a LEFTIE COMMNDER!?!? heavens :p

well if youve narrowed down the criteria to wave, sheepie friendly and still good for PD, then I woudl say a waved mini cqc7 up to you what blade shape.. do they have small waved ones?

Wulfenite: I think you've already made your choice. Sounds to me like you've described a leftie waved CQC-7A. Unfortunately, for the majority of the sheeple, no blade in any configuration would be considered politically corrrect.

Sniperboy: unfortunately, the mini-7's don't come with a wave...yet

I dont see a Waved 7A model on the EKI site. They have waved 7B's but all the 7A pictures are castrated. Would that be a special order?

It would be a VERY special order, EKI doesn't put the wave on the "A" blade style. (maybe someday?)

Btw, for left side carry, I use a CQC-7b (waved) with RH clip.

This allows me to draw and wave the knife so that it comes out of pocket in the reverse grip. Don't know it that appeals to you or not, but it's an option to consider. It's especially against an attacker from the rear.

(Obviously, you can also switch it over and carry on the right side as well.)

Ken took the words from my mouth. I'd suggest a "right handed knife" carried in your left pocket. Hell I've even considered getting a "Left Handed" Commander for carry in my right side pocket, just so I can draw into an icepick grip on my primary side.

The smallest waved models currently available are the "Waved CQC7B" (Full size) and the Mini Commander. Either would make a great companion to your Commander.

Just my opinon

John

They work pretty damn well for most tasks that I do. The point where the two grings come together cuts paper like nobodies business. :D

the chisel grind of the tanto is great for cutting as there is a flat side for accurancy....it is also easy to re-sharpen

Depending on the situation, I carry either a right hand, waved 7 or a Mini in my left rear pocket to compliment my strong side Commander. I like 'em both but I like the grip on the Mini better than the 7.:D

I think a mini commander would suit you well. It is interesting that the mini commander is about the same size as the full size CQC7, but it gives the impression of being a small knife, but that might only be for people who are accustomed to the commander.

Wulfie, the hell with the sheeple. There is nothing more satisfying (well..........um........almost) than sitting down in the company lunch room and, realizing you left the steak knife at home, carving up a nice juicy ribeye with your commander :D . The astonished looks you get will be incredible. Get what YOU want. You'll be happier in the long run. If you must stay PC...............I vote for the Mini-C.

Hope this helps,

Woody

I'm with you, but just like carrying a knife on both sides, I'm trying to give myself options. Just cause I have a smaller knife does not mean I'll use it. :D

I thought of getting the mini-c but the tip of the full size is not pointy enough for my utility tastes. Is the profile of the mini blade the same as the larger or more narrow? In the pictures it looks slightly more narrow but it may just be an optical illusion.

how about the P-SARK? it is my EDC and it seems like it was made for the utility chores that I do. it has a pointy tip and is probably the most sheeple freindly Waved Emerson besides the SARK. if any one mentions it you can say it is used for search and rescue operations and by paramedics to save lives. as for it's P.D. uses, we all saw the poictures at T.A.D. of Emerson with a P-SARK trainer. to me it didn't look like he was training to cut someone out of their seat belt so it must have some defensive use.

i think the p sark is much better for utility but my experience is that hawkblades scare people more than tantoes... just me...

I bring out a bowie and it's fine but if I bring out the p sark or worse the spydie Civilian they cry bloody muurder =)
