Can someone please tell me what this is?

Calling all tool experts and research junkies, I found this in the bottom of a tool box I bought at an auction.

Some one out there has got to know what the heck this is and what it's used for.

It's about 3 7/8" long X 11/16" X 1/4" the handle is maroon swirl Bakelite and the tool slides out like a Christy Sliding knife.

There's a patent # on back and the words Grip Master 300

Mods there is knife content, if you could please leave it here I think I'll get more response, I'm also going to post this in Mr. Levines section.

It is a tool patented by G. C. Hohenstein in 1955 and was for the use of bowlers.

I have no idea exactly what it was used for but possibly cleaning out the holes in the balls or something like that.

That makes sense probably to rough up the holes to prevent premature release. ;) :D :rolleyes:
