Can someone tell me a little bit about the Buck 653?

Probably the most comfortable grip I've ever held, not just Buck but any knife.
 
You photo is a tad dark but I believe that your knife's handle is black on black which indicates the earliest variation of this model.

Was there a black on green later version or was this knife a one year no handle material variant wonder?

Looking at old threads, it was mentioned in 2002 that they were not in the catalog anymore. Don't know when they were started.
 
Thaks guys, sorry about the pic, it was the best lighting I had at the moment. The handle is pure black. Does it have any monetary value? Or is it just like a $20 Buck knife?
 
the asking price on the bay is a lot higher but I doubt it will be had for what they are asking. Tanto blades are not the first choice for many folks.
