It's a french Laguiole knife made by a few companies in france, it's or was a common EDC used for everything from eating supper to farm work, they're still made today.

Google french Laguiole knife you'll learn alot.
 
I've seen similar knives with the sandvik steel sellin' between $100-$150 without the sheath and steel.
 
I just picked it up today. I have to say it is really growing on me. It actually locks up pretty solid, takes a good edge and is so refined...It is like holding a piece of art. Polished blade, brass all shiny, carved out back spacer, and design on spine of blade. It is a cool little knife.... And to boot, I picked it up with the case and sharpener for $30.00.
