I purchased it about a decade ago. The handle is supposed to be fossil walrus tusk, which I was told is ok to have since it’s fossilized, and that the hole is some kind of fire old fire starting remnant but I can’t remember much more such as what time period the tusk was being used to start fires. I’m assuming it was after it was fossilized?

Looks like a stainless Model 11 Alaskan Skinner.
I believe the 'S' on the blade denotes stainless and the blade shape looks the same. You might find a number on the rear of the sheath which may add some idea.

The hollow in the handle would be a place you could put the end of a fire making dowel into, to keep it centred while you rotate the dowel with a bow.

As to value, you have to be paid up to ask, but you can always go and price up what it would cost now using the Randall site.

All correct. Really hard to price these, it used to 2, 2.5x the stock price of a comparable model from what I've seen, but a lot of people have stopped collecting all types of ivory because of the uncertain legal status it seems to go through every few years.

Not to be a pain, but non-paying members are not allowed to ask about knife values. But I would look at the pricing on fleabay to get an idea and add $$ for the walrus. That makes it much more valuable these days with the restrictions on ivory. Randall knives generally sell at full retail. So check Randall pricing too.

Sorry I was unaware. How much does it cost to become full member?

That info is easily available on the headers for the forum (links-"paid subscriptions"). I honestly could not give you a value of that particular knife. Maybe others could. A Randall collector might jump through some hoops to buy that knife with the walrus ivory. Me... not so much.

It’s a fascinating knife. You should post it in the Randall section you might get more exposure.

It’s hidden under Collector forums. @Melvin-Purvis may know more about it.

I’m thinking it’s a pretty special handle probably provided by the customer or maybe a dealer to make a special knife.
